Into the Liminal Part Five ~ To See In the Dark

We slipped beneath the waterline,

Deep below the surface.

There within the mud, she embraced us.

We separated and dissolved.

Each piece holds purpose.

Each piece holds truth.

A lesson learned.

A weight shed.

Sinking deeper, buried within her,

We embrace the nothingness.

We embrace the all.

For we will soon rise again,

A blazing light born in our darkness.

But for now,

We rest.

We dream.

We sleep.

We reform, dissolve, and reform again.

We embody the complete stillness.

We embrace the complete silence of the deep earth and the deepest reaches of starry space.

For we now reside in the tomb and the womb of the Goddess,

And we dream a dream with the Dreamer’s dream…

Over the last four weeks, we traveled through liminal lands exploring the edges of what we think we know. We took the chance and walked along our own borders. We sought out what has been put aside or hidden from sight. We attempted to embrace the shunned pieces and the parts of us that needed love. We brought those pieces back into our hearts and memories in order to understand ourselves at a deeper level and heal in the process. Perhaps we will integrate those pieces. Perhaps we will finally be able to put them to rest in a healthy way. We dared to let go of what we knew and what we thought we knew in order to see ourselves through the lens of unconditional love and compassion. These are not easy tasks. They are also not meant to be taken lightly.

As we walk though this life exploring our light, dark, and mysterious borderlands, we quickly discover that one meditation, one epiphany, does not clear everything. No. It simply allows us to scratch the surface to explore a myriad of other pieces, waiting to be seen through the lens of Love. Although it can feel overwhelming at first, we quickly realize that there really is an endless number of possibilities with many paths to walk. What we must remember is to breathe, ground ourselves, and take one step at a time. It truly is a case of ‘the more you know, the more you know you don’t know.’ Aristotle is right. But that, in my opinion, is where the beauty resides. We get the chance to witness magick and beauty over and over again. And yes, everything that goes along with it, including the pain and tears. That is how the healing, understanding, and transformation takes place, if we choose to seek it. As we walk with the Cailleach during this process, we can move safely under her guidance, unconditional love, and wisdom.

Last week we ventured to the magick of the swamp. We allowed ourselves to surrender to the mineral rich mud below the waterline where we dissolved and allowed what no longer serves us to separate. We felt the pieces of ourselves fall away from what we know in order to suspend ourselves in the darkness, buried in the mud. How did it feel for you? Sometimes it can feel wonderful. Sometimes it can be a little frightening, especially if we feel we are in unfamiliar territory. Breathe into those spaces and allow your energetic self to fill the space within the womb of the Goddess.

Today, try and slip a little deeper. From the mud, we move down, into the rich and fertile soil of the earth. This is both the womb and tomb of the Goddess. Here we can continue our process of dissolving and reforming. It is where we dissolve once again. We can take the time to look at where we have been and what we have done. We can look at what we might like to be. We can remove what ails or blocks us in this sacred space. It is where we can dream all the dreams and pull out what we might like to experience. We can ponder what our lives would look like and feel like if those dreams came true. It is where we can realize our potential and gather the strength and fortitude to dare ourselves to make them come true.

Over the next few weeks, take some time to explore these parts of you. Offer yourself the sacred act of becoming. Allow yourself the space to be radical and dream. Dream your dreams and give voice to the hopes you hold in your heart and the deepest parts of your soul. It is your life to love. Explore it. Celebrate it. It is what you are here on this earth to do. Remember, as you are within the womb of the Goddess, you are safe and you are loved. Allow yourself the ability to see your dreams deep within the silence and stillness of the darkness.

Be well today be gentle with yourself,
